19th-century Empire desk

Elegant Empire-style mahogany desk, dating from around the end of the 19th century. The desk rests on four tapered legs and is equipped with three drawers, one of which conceals a secret compartment, a feature appreciated by antique furniture enthusiasts. Two sliding side shelves, covered in leather, allow for an increased working surface. The main top is covered with its original leather, adorned with a gilded frieze, which contributes fully to the charm and authenticity of the piece. Dimensions. * Width: 131 cm. * Depth: 66 cm. * Height: 75 cm. Condition. The desk is in very good condition for its age. The wood has a beautiful patina, with a sound and stable structure. The drawers are functional and the sliding shelves operate correctly. The original leather shows normal signs of use, including: * a few marks left by cups; * a small old burn on the top; * slight general wear related to age. The wood also has a few discreet signs of use, visible in the photos, without affecting the strength or overall aesthetics of the piece.
