Pair of armchairs by Pierre Guariche, Negroni, circa 1970
A pair of armchairs designed by Pierre Guariche and produced by Negroni in France around 1970. The design is based on the contrast between a geometric structure made of white laminated plywood, with the edges left exposed, and two thick cushions forming the seat and backrest. The side panels, widely cut out, create a continuous profile that rises to the backrest, while the black fixings deliberately punctuate the white surfaces. Low and generously padded, these armchairs reflect Pierre Guariche's explorations of simple, functional furniture suited to the new ways of living developed in the late 1960s. Provenance: La Plagne ski resort, circa 1970. Edition: Negroni, circa 1970. Vintage condition, generally good condition, with some signs of use consistent with age.
