Floor lamp by Charles Dudouyt, 1940

Modernist floor lamp in solid oak turned by Charles Dudouyt, 1930s-1940s Superb and iconic large living room floor lamp in stained solid oak attributed to Charles Dudouyt (1885-1946), a major figure in French modernist and brutalist furniture from the 1930s-1940s. • Cylindrical shaft sculpted with stacked rings featuring a beveled profile (regular fluting), a signature motif of the designer. • Circular base resting on flat pads, adorned with steps and concentric grooves. • Dark waxed oak revealing superb grain and deep veining. • Sold with its original conical parchment lampshade (stretched patinated skin), richly highlighted with a fringe of two-tone tassels. Condition: Very good vintage condition. The wood shows a magnificent period wax patina and is healthy. The parchment lampshade is original with its patina of use, natural marbling, and signs of age that attest to its authenticity. Functional period electrical system (switch and plug). Ideal in a warm interior combining brutalist, vintage modernist, or Scandinavian design pieces.
