Beautiful sculpted wooden head of a man, handcrafted from a single piece of wood, from the second half of the 20th century, 1950s, in a modernist and ethnic, brutalist style, possibly from a workshop or sculpture school. The face, with its sober and geometric features, is accentuated by a long cylindrical neck and a beautiful dark brown patina revealing the natural grain of the wood. There is an inscription under the base, presumably the creation date 2.7.51, and a more recent inventory inscription in pen. Height 21.5cm, width 13cm, depth 12cm. Very good overall condition with a few discreet signs of age and a fine natural shrinkage crack at the back running from the neck to the top of the skull, without fragility. Approximately 1kg.
