Pair of Art Deco / Modernist armchairs in walnut - 1930-1940

Armrests covered with figured walnut veneer with contrasting grain. Traditional upholstery (hand-tied steel springs on straps, vegetable hair, linen, and jute fabrics). * Covering: Thick velvet jacquard with a geometric pattern (40% viscose, 36% acrylic, 17% cotton, 7% polyester). * Finish: Polished gloss varnish (mirror effect) on walnut elements. * Dimensions: Width 65 cm|Depth 87 cm|Height 83.5 cm (Seat: H 47 cm, D 51 cm|Armrests: H 63 cm). Description and condition. A pair of armchairs representative of Polish modernism. The silhouette is characterised by a strict geometric line where the curved armrests extend continuously to form the front legs of the seat. The wide side sections highlight the natural and highly decorative design of the walnut veneer. The wooden structure and internal upholstery have undergone a complete restoration using traditional methods. The seat with traditional springs and natural materials offers the firmness and durability typical of period seating. The frames are perfectly stable and rigid. The varnish is impeccable and the fabric is new. The pair has not been used since its restoration and is ready to be installed.
