Octagonal parclose mirror in Louis XIV style – repoussé metal and beveled glass.
Large Louis XIV style mirror with parcloses, elongated octagonal shape in a diamond form. It consists of a central beveled mirror surrounded by numerous rectangular and triangular parcloses made of antique beveled glass, engraved with floral motifs, separated by metal strips embossed with decorations of gadroons, pearls, and ovals. The upper cartouche depicts an antique vase framed by scrolls and volutes, while the lower cartouche features a basket of fruits and grapes flanked by birds and leafy interlacing. The corners are adorned with zoomorphic figures—dragons or salamanders—characteristic of the Flemish or Dutch Baroque repertoire. The back reveals a structure made of solid wood that was formerly blackened, with reinforcements in wrought iron and a rope suspension, typical of manufacturing techniques from the 17th-18th centuries. The whole presents a beautiful dark brown patina with areas of verdigris on the metal, pronounced foxing on several parcloses—signs of age and authenticity—as well as a missing side parclose. Dimensions: 110 cm in height × 62 cm in width × 5 cm in depth. Weight: 4 kg.
