Description
Japanese cloisonné vase, in dark bronze with decoration of abstract images. Made towards the end of the 19th century, or the beginning of the 20th century. It is in excellent condition. The vase is 35 centimeters high. Cloisonné is a technique where thin copper wires are used to make shapes on a copper or bronze base. Then the enamel is applied to fill the pattern on the base. This technique has been used for centuries in China and is still used today. The result is a very complex and colorful decoration. The images used are often flowers, animals and figures from Chinese or Japanese mythology.
