Post-modern, radically geometric and in a vibrant cardinal red, these two moji armchairs illustrate the formal research that poltrona frau, a house founded in turin in 1912, has been pursuing for over a century: combining saddlery expertise, ergonomics and avant-garde lines. Designed in the early 1990s by the late japanese architect shigeru uchida (1949-2016), a master of sobriety and space, the model is part of the japanese minimalist movement while taking up the generous proportions dear to post-war italian clubs. The result: a perfect, almost sculptural parallelepiped, resting on four contrasting block legs. Handcrafted in the brand's workshops in tolentino (italy), these armchairs rest on an internal structure in solid beech and plywood, padded with foam of different densities to guarantee lasting comfort. The upholstery is the famous pelle frau® full-grain leather (grade sc 128), slightly patinated on the surface but free of scratches or tears, a sign of careful maintenance. The legs, in solid blackened beech, fit into the body in a pattern of exemplary formal rigor. Each piece, finally, bears its original nameplate, engraved “poltrona frau - made in italy” and accompanied by the factory serial number - a guarantee of traceability and authenticity. -- dimensions (cm): 70.5 (h) X 67.5 (w) X 72.5 (d) X 41.5 (h seat). Origin & period: italy, c. 2000 very good overall condition - light patina on the leathers, discreet residual wear consistent with careful use.
