This Persian carpet from Tabriz, stemming from the prestigious artisanal tradition of this great city in north-west Iran, has been renowned for centuries for the finesse and richness of its productions. Signed by the master weaver Pirouzian, it showcases exceptional craftsmanship, where every detail reflects the technical mastery and artistic sensitivity characteristic of Tabriz workshops. The design is organised around a sumptuous central medallion, richly elaborated, which flourishes on a deep midnight blue field. This background highlights a profusion of delicate floral motifs, including scrolls, palmettes, and finely drawn arabesques, typical of the classic Tabriz style. The whole is structured with great symmetry, giving the carpet an impression of balance and harmony. The colours, dominated by warm reds, luminous ivories, and shades of blue, are subtly nuanced and testify to high-quality dyeing work. The main border, particularly rich, elegantly frames the central field. It is adorned with stylised and repetitive floral motifs, creating a visual frame that enhances the depth of the decor. The finer counter-borders add an extra refinement by precisely highlighting the whole. This carpet thus embodies the tradition of the great Tabriz carpets, where the influence of classic Persian designs blends with an execution of great finesse, often achieved with tight knots allowing for exceptional definition of the motifs. Dimensions: 350x260 cm. Condition: this carpet shows significant general wear, with marked wear on the fringes and the border on one side. There is also a stop of the fringes over approximately 15 cm, clearly visible in the photo, attesting to its history and authenticity.
