Antique Chakki coffee table

This carved teak coffee table was originally the lower part of a manual mill which was used to make flour, an essential ingredient in chapati. Originally, an opening in the center of the table accommodated a first stone disc, fixed, and on top was placed a second stone disc, rotating this time, to allow the grain to be ground. This old mill has been restored (the sculptures are original), the central hole has been filled, in order to make it functional as a coffee table. The wood has been bleached to give it that driftwood effect. It is an old piece, which bears the marks of time and its use.
