Pair of glazed terracotta dishes, entirely handmade, these old very decorative hollow dishes with polychrome fish and algae decoration signed on the reverse "salamo la bisbal" in very good condition. No cracks or chips. Diameter 260 mm, height 45 mm. Pottery in La Bisbal d'Empordà (Spain-Catalonia) has a long history since documents attest to the presence of potters in 1502. It was limited to local production until the 17th century before taking off from the 17th century, experiencing the golden age from the 19th century until the middle of the 20th century. Since then, with the boom in tourism, production has focused mainly on decorative ceramics and those intended for construction. The terracotta museum (inaugurated in 1991) and a ceramics school preserve, conserve and disseminate this material and cultural heritage.
