Description
Cup (or large ashtray) in molded pressed glass, tinted yellow throughout, created by master glassmaker pierre d'avesn* in the 1940s. Unsigned. Decorated with gadroons. Diameter 16 cm, height 6 cm, weight 940 gr excellent condition * real name pierre girre (1901-1990) pierre d'avesn was a student of françois decorchement at the school of decorative arts. He worked for 10 years at lalique before working at daum between 1930 and 1936 where he developed the production of pressed molded glass in the department of productions signed lorrain nancy. He joined the andelys glassworks (verlys) in 1937 then, after 1945, the cristallerie de choisy le roi where he reissued old models and created new ones. He remained there until his retirement in 1984.
