Silk carpet, based on The Tenant Trees Never Sleep (1973). Shanghai silk carpet. This silk carpet is a reproduction of an iconic work by the Austrian architect and artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928–2000), a major figure in engaged art and a passionate advocate for the preservation of the planet. Created in 1973, the watercolour The Tenant Trees Never Sleep powerfully embodies Hundertwasser's visionary thinking, a precursor of the environmental cause. It illustrates the concept of "tenant trees, " dear to the artist, whereby trees integrated into architecture "pay their rent" by providing essential values: oxygen, beauty, and silence, while filtering dust and contributing to climate regulation. Faithful to his convictions, Hundertwasser planted over 60, 000 trees around the world, translating his artistic commitment into concrete actions. See the work here. (Friedensreich Hundertwasser) We chose this carpet not only for the richness and uniqueness of its plastic language but also for the depth and relevance of the humanistic and ecological message conveyed by the artist. Dimensions: 300x200 cm. Condition: Restored fringes on both sides. Light wear and increased sheen of the silk at the green border. Slight waviness on one side, at the fringes; this will naturally diminish over time once the carpet is laid on the floor. Overall, it is in good general condition.
