Wooden table lamp by Charles Dudouyt, France, circa 1930. A wooden table lamp by Charles Dudouyt, designed and produced in France in the 1930s. Turned from solid wood, the lamp features a central sculpted column with a succession of faceted diamond-shaped elements rising from a circular base with concentric turning rings. The original electrical system, fully functional, has been preserved, and the lamp is offered with a contemporary cream linen-cotton tubular shade. As the lamp retains its original antique French B22 bayonet sockets, it comes with two compatible 22 mm bayonet bulbs. Replacements are easily available online. Charles Dudouyt holds a unique position in 20th-century French decorative arts. While his contemporaries embraced the sophistication and luxury materials associated with Art Deco, Dudouyt drew inspiration from traditional French vernacular furniture, transforming rural forms and woodworking techniques into a highly personal and instantly recognisable design language. Through bold turning, geometric sculpture, and solid wood construction, he created furniture and lighting that bridged regional craftsmanship and modern design, securing his place among the most distinctive French designers of the era. Overall dimensions: 55 cm high × 16 cm diameter. Wooden lamp: 26 cm high. Base diameter: 12 cm. Shade: 35 cm high × 16 cm diameter. Excellent vintage condition. Retaining its original electrical system, fully functional. A contemporary cream linen-cotton shade is included.
