The Tango sofa by Leolux belongs to the Dutch postmodern design of the 1980s-90s, designed by Jan Armgardt for the Leolux brand (founded in the Netherlands). It is a classic of high-end contemporary design, still produced today. Stylistic features of the Tango: Organic and sculptural design: the shapes are rounded, almost architectural, very different from classic straight sofas — it is a piece that has a real visual impact in a room. Modularity: its armrests and backrest are adjustable and can unfold to enlarge the seating area or transform into a bed, which was quite innovative at the time. Solid beech structure with polished aluminium legs — a mix of noble and industrial materials typical of Dutch design from this period. "Leoskin" leather: the thick and supple leather upholstery, one of Leolux's quality signatures. "Statement piece" aesthetic: this is not a discreet sofa; it is designed as a character piece, almost a functional sculpture. It is part of the lineage of Dutch designers who made their mark on European furniture design in the 80s-90s (bold shapes, rethought comfort and functionality). It is a model still recognised and sought after in vintage/contemporary design today, which explains why it maintains a good value even after 20 years.
