Window on the past – plate on pedestal hb & cie (circa 1880). An invitation to a rural reverie. This ironstone soup plate, raised on an elegant pedestal, is signed hb & cie, a famous manufacturer from choisy-le-roi. It bears a delicate sepia decoration of bucolic inspiration: a wide-open window onto a garden, a cup forgotten on the rim, a harvest in progress, peaceful birds. A small country theater frozen in time. Richly decorated: not only on the top but also on the pedestal and under the bottom of the plate. Perfect as a centerpiece in a vintage setting or to enhance a country lunch. Stamped under the bottom terre de fer hb & cie: the stamp allows it to be dated around 1880. A beautiful plate on a pedestal, more than a hundred years old: traces of time and pretty original cracks (no cracks). With its warm patina and original cracking, this piece tells the story of the passage of time. Once a soft ivory, it has taken on these slightly browned tones over the decades – a natural metamorphosis typical of old earthenware, and a guarantee of its authenticity. Diameter: 22 cm height: 9.5 cm.
