Adorable container, perhaps a mini hyacinth vase, but I'm leaning more towards a paperweight that can also hold paper clips and small items on a desk. Its shape is pretty and original, but it's especially this black and white ribbon (the white becomes a translucent blue trace on the other side) integrated into the blown crystal that makes it a remarkable, elegant object, of very fine craftsmanship. And that's normal since it's an object made in the famous Caithness Glassworks in Scotland, an artisanal glassworks that has existed since 1961 and which supplies the English royal family. This glassworks specializes in paperweights and sulphides. The base, flared and thick, heavy therefore makes it perfectly stable, ideal for a paperweight but also for holding a hyacinth bulb. This vase is discreetly stamped Caithness underneath (engraving) and it still has its self-adhesive label which mentions "Caithness Crystal Handmade English Lead Crystal". I can't date it with certainty, but this collection is no longer offered in their catalog and some sources date this model (perhaps called tourbillon) from the 90s. It is in good condition, just a few micro-scratches under the base and a small, barely visible chip on the inner edge of the upper rim. It measures 9.5 cm in diameter at the base, 6.5 cm in diameter at the neck, 6.5 cm in height and weighs about 450g.
