French school of the seventeenth century (after) perspective section with elevation of the place dauphine and the pont neuf, in the seventeenth century. Printed reproduction of an engraving. Information: the engraving reproduced here shows the place dauphine in its regular classical plan, before it was opened during the redevelopment of the ile de la cité during the great works of haussmann, in the second half of the nineteenth century. It also features the cordeliers convent (in the background), burned and destroyed during the french revolution. The equestrian statue of henry IV was completed in 1614, 4 years after the death of the king. This engraving therefore represents the royal square as it was under the reign of louis XIII.
