Late 19th to early 20th century étagère or music cabinet in the style of Gabriel Viardot, crafted in solid mahogany. This piece reflects the Chinoiserie Revival aesthetic, with intricate fretwork, curved detailing, and a pagoda-style gallery top. Originally used for storing sheet music or folios in the lower compartment (with vertical dividers), and for books or decorative objects on the open shelves above. The cabinet is structurally solid, but does show several visible signs of age and earlier repairs, including: A crack in the veneer of the middle shelf — glued, but still clearly visible. A small missing section on one lower divider, not structurally important but noticeable. A repaired crack on the top that's functional but not very neatly done. Minor losses to carved elements on the upper fretwork. Some sun fading, particularly on the top surface — but it actually adds a warm, mellow character to the finish. These flaws are cosmetic and consistent with the age of the piece, and they don't affect its overall stability or usability. Period: c. 1880–1900. Style: Gabriel Viardot / Chinoiserie Revival. Material: Solid mahogany. Condition: Fair to good – structurally sound, with visible age-related flaws and repairs.
