Ceramic jug from Quimper, created by Dominique Villard, signed D.V. In the decoration. White glaze with a slight ivory tint, decorated with black lines and enhanced with shades of old rose, plum, and brown. A fine brown line highlights the edge. Generous shape, with a rounded belly, a narrow neck, a wide handle, and a pinched spout. The slight striations visible under the glaze contribute to its artisanal appearance. Initials D.V. On the decoration: Dominique Villard, a Quimper creator who has been renewing traditional Breton imagery since the 1960s with a much more refined and graphic design. This jug belongs to that universe: the subject remains Breton, but its treatment clearly departs from the classic folkloric decorations of Quimper. Circa 1960-1970. In beautiful vintage condition, shiny, with a few small marks and irregularities related to manufacturing and age (see photos). Length including handle 13 cm, height 14 cm, base diameter 8.5 cm. Estimated capacity 60 cl. D. Villard renews the traditional figures of Quimper with a refined, graphic, and decidedly modern design.
