Period: 1935-1938. A very pretty vase supported by a rare opaque old pink color. The pink color was created by the inverted paint of the interior of the glass vase; this was done with a paint of a grainy texture. The exterior of the vase was decorated with simple strips of gold on the lower part of the body and a checkerboard pattern above the shoulder. The foot and edge have thicker gold stripes. It's blown glass. The vase bears a sticker stating 'glasfabriek boom' (i.e. Boom's glass factory); these labels may be dated between 1935 and 1938. This form of model is called 'ady'. The glass factory 'de rupel' (1923-1982) in the belgian town of boom produced glassware which is usually referred to as 'boom glass'. The golden age of the factory was in the roaring twenties (the 1920s) when there was a production of refined pieces blown and hand painted in the art deco style. State: Very good. The strips of edges are in very good condition which is rare for these articles; there are only a few areas of gilding slightly wilted. There is a micro-imperfection on the edge but it is under the gold paint and therefore a production defect.
