Pretty vintage reproduction of a work by Renoir, bringing together Jean his second son and Gabrielle, the faithful servant of the family. This frame comes straight from the workshop of the Pierre Jalby workshop. 💛h19.5cm/width17.5cm. 💛vintage. 💛very good condition. The little story. This work is part of a large ensemble painted around 1895-1896 where Renoir brings together Jean, his second son, and Gabrielle, the family's faithful servant. The painter thus created a veritable album of his son's early childhood. Jean Renoir kept precise images of this period: “when I was still very small, three, four or five years old, he did not choose the pose himself, but took advantage of an occupation which seemed to keep me quiet. " Renoir could count on the active complicity of Gabrielle who always found a way to attract the attention of the young model. here she holds the toddler on her lap and occupies him with farm figurines. In the painting in the orangery museum, the figurines are barely outlined and blend into the plane of the table. We barely recognize a cow in Gabrielle's hand. Likewise the background is just suggested. On the right we can see a printed canvas that Renoir placed behind his models to give a background to his compositions. there is another version of Gabrielle and Jean (private collection) which seems more accomplished in which the servant is holding a rooster and where the figurines are much clearer.
