Fully restored mid century modern lounge chair. Made by gelli industry de móveis in the 1950s. The frame is made from rosewood with a rich and deep color and magnificent graining. The one piece seat follows the elegant curves of the frame. The frame has been completely taken apart and repaired and strengthened were needed. Sanded, cleaned, oiled and waxed. The seat frame has been stripped. New foam, fiberfill and reupholstered in merino wool teddy fabric. The chair has several stamps and labels. The labels underneath the seat were kept visible while the stamps and labels on the seat frame have been covered by the upholstery. It even has the original customs stamps on them in cruzeiro which was the brazilian currency from 1942 until 1964. A dat on one of the labels suggest it was made in 1957. Gelli moveis, " is considered the first furniture factory in petropolis (rio de janeiro), produced in large scale for brazilian houses since the last decade of the 19th century, the pieces by gelli contributed to the history of brazilian furniture.
