Description
This old samovar - or travel kettle - is made of pewter. It is nicely crafted: the support is decorated with a decoration. The samovar was intended for the preparation and consumption of black tea, originally in eastern countries (russia, persia, turkey and india) then throughout europe in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The edges of the teapot are scrolled and the support is decorated with rockeries. It has a wooden handle. This samovar dates from the 19th century. This samovar is in good general condition. I point out visible traces of use (dents, scratches and deformation) and traces of oxidation. It measures 28cm X 21cm. I point out a crack on one foot and traces of repair welding. A beautiful decorative object, which bears witness to the customs of yesteryear: tea was kept warm for passing guests...
