What a little marvel of ingenuity and lightness! It looks quite frail with its thin wooden slats which form the seat and the legs but it is rather solid with its reinforcement system of black lacquered metal rods. Small side stool that stores easily, it will also make an original plant holder, bedside table or end table. It has a small metal handle for easy transport. Each slat is grooved, it's beautiful work for a common object. It could be a fisherman's or camping stool but given its extreme lightness, the pretty work on the wood and this little carrying handle, I would go for a painter's stool, very practical for setting up in the street or in the countryside. It must date from the first half of the 20th century. It folds for storage, and to lock it in the open or closed position, you have to rotate a small wooden slat. It is in good general condition, but does not hide some signs of its age: a few non-active beetle holes but which I treated consciously by injecting white vinegar, a few various marks (stains, small chips). Unfolded it measures 40 cm by 26 cm for a height of 34 cm. When folded, its thickness does not exceed 4 cm.
