1940’s Swedish Mid-Century Sofa in Cream Bouclé

This elegant 1940’s Swedish sofa has a simple, organic form with graceful sweeping curves and distinctive splayed elm legs. The elongated legs extend gently outwards from the frame, giving the sofa an interesting and well-defined silhouette. The sofa has been fully reupholstered in a lovely cream bouclé fabric from Chase Irwin. The soft texture and warm cream colour work particularly well with the rounded shape of the sofa, while the rich tone and natural variation of the elm legs add warmth and character. The original upholstery and inner padding were removed and replaced. The sofa was first upholstered in fire-retardant calico before being finished in the bouclé. The elm legs were cleaned, stripped, sanded and refinished with French polish and wax, bringing out their rich colour and natural character. A lovely example of 1940’s Swedish design, combining a relaxed organic form with beautifully toned elm and tactile bouclé upholstery. Seat Height 44 cm.
