Hispano-Moorish handmade ceramic plate – green and orange decoration

When folk art meets the finesse of the Hispano-Moorish tradition: this large, hand-painted, glazed earthenware plate bears the signature of Pascual Zorilla, a Spanish ceramicist renowned for his colorful, symmetrical Andalusian-inspired designs. With its stylized floral motif with green, orange, and navy blue accents on an ivory background, it evokes ancient azulejos and Al-Andalus earthenware. In the 1960s and 1980s, several Spanish artisans like Pascual Zorilla revived the aesthetic of Moorish earthenware, combining traditional craftsmanship with freer decorative compositions. Their pieces are recognizable both by their bold palette and their very personal style, often signed on the back.
