This watercolour depicts a young woman carrying a basket filled with fish in each hand. She is dressed in a long dress accompanied by an apron. She wears a scarf and a white headdress on her head. The style of the watercolour is delicate and detailed, with soft colours and fine lines. The background is simple and neutral, highlighting the central figure. In the bottom right corner of the image, the artist's signature is affixed. This work is interesting as it captures a scene from daily life with particular attention to clothing details and accessories. Zénon Trigo or Pierre-Cénon Trigo (1850-1914) was born in Spain in Ataca but spent most of his career in Nantes. He was a portraitist and a student of Eduardo Rosales Martinez (1836-1873). His paintings and watercolours have delighted the people of Nantes. He is credited with depicting all the vanished trades of old Nantes, from the glazier to the street sweeper, to the umbrella repairer. He sold his canvases at the market. ******* Period: Late 19th century. In good condition. Delivery possible in France and internationally. Dimensions: Height: 50 cm. Width: 38 cm. Depth: 2 cm. Ref. 241224.3.
