LUXO brand vice lamp (Norwegian manufacture) designed in 1938 Black lacquered and chrome-plated steel This lamp was created by Jacob JACOBSEN (1901-1996), importer of machine tools for the textile industry. The latter received a model of ANGLEPOISE 1227 lamp (English manufacture) in 1936. Struck by the ingenuity and design of the object, he bought the manufacturing license for the Scandinavian countries, then redesigned it by simplifying its forms. Made in Oslo, the LUXO L1-P (literally "I give light" in Latin) was officially launched in 1938. It became a staple in schools, offices, industrial workshops, health centers, design and architectural agencies. In the 1940s, it was the most widespread work lamp, both in Europe and the United States.
