Large-format vintage wall chart depicting the anatomy of the "epeira diadema" (archnoidae, araneina). Lithograph on two sheets of paper, mounted on canvas. Bright colors, some creases, overall fair vintage condition considering its age and use. Author and illustrator: professor paul pfurtscheller. Pfurtscheller (1855-1927) created a series of 39 "zoologische wandtafeln" (zoological wall charts) for higher education. Although a modest high school teacher by training, he gained international recognition thanks to this remarkable work. The spider is "chart 25" in the series. The pfurtscheller wall charts were originally published in vienna, austria, by 'a. Pichler's witwe & sohn', probably around 1902. Later editions were also published by the dutch company 'martinus nijhoff' until 1953 height 135cm width 128cm.
