The h-269 armchairs designed by jindrich halabala in 1930 are one of the most iconic examples of czechoslovak design of the interwar period. Halabala, as the chief designer of the up závody company in brno, created this model as part of his vision of modern, functional and aesthetic furniture available to the general public. The h-269 armchairs are characterised by an elegant, organic form that combines elements of art deco style with a modernist approach to design. A key aspect of their construction is the use of bent beech wood, which was an innovative approach to traditional carpentry techniques. The armchair frame, made of bent wood, creates a smooth, continuous line from the legs, through the armrests, to the backrest, giving the furniture a characteristic, harmonious look.
