1958 mid-century modern "Off to the market" swedish vintage figurative oil painting, framed

A remarkable modernist figurative composition, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1958. The painting features a female figure wearing a red dress with a white apron wrapped around her waist, carrying a basket of goods on her head. The artwork is very unique, as it has been painted in an almost grid-like manner filled with different geometric shapes coming together like a puzzle. The artist has used a restrained palette comprising shades of red, black, white and brown, and there is a beautiful juxtaposition between her striking red dress against the black form behind her, that’s presumably a door. This painting is housed in a very well suited distressed white frame that really enhances the painting. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition. Size: 52 X 32 cm (including frame).
