Rare plate on a pedestal made of deep amber pressed glass, with warm, honeyed reflections, typical of the great French glassworks of the late 19th century. Richly adorned with a moulded gallant decoration, depicting 18th-century inspired figures in a pastoral landscape, an emblematic motif of the decorative repertoire of the time. The rim is distinguished by a finely pierced edge, forming a regular and elegant frieze that captures the light and gives the piece a remarkable decorative presence. The decoration is in relief on the underside. The bowl rests on a sculpted pedestal, well-proportioned, ensuring stability and visual balance to the whole. This model is part of the repertoire of the Portieux Glassworks (Vosges), a factory founded in 1705 and recognised in the 19th century for the quality of its decorative pressed glass, distributed throughout Europe. The decoration known as "George Sand" is among the emblematic models. In beautiful vintage condition, with no chips or cracks, featuring a lovely transparency and a uniform patina. One or two barely visible manufacturing bubbles in the pedestal (see photos). Height 12 cm, diameter 22 cm, diameter of the base of the pedestal 11 cm. A rare and striking piece offering a contemporary interpretation of antique glass, enhanced by an essential amber hue.
