Description
Delicate terracotta portrait with claire patina by louise brongniart, after the model of the famous french sculptor jean-antoine houdon (1741 – 1828), currently kept at the louvre museum. This work transcribes the great talent of this portraitist, also nicknamed "the sculptor of the enlightenment". The subject turns his head in the opposite direction, his shoulders bare. His face, which is presented to us from three-quarters face, is imbued with the curves of early childhood. Her hair is delicately raised in a bun, held by a headband surmounted by a knot. The artist knew how to give the girl's gaze a thoughtful and profound air. The ensemble rests on a base of origin in the style of faux-bois, bearing the inscription "terracotta of art". The master's signature is affixed above, on the rear base of the bust. You will be touched by the freshness and innocence that emanates from this elegant bust with a precise and lively rendering. ******** Period: 1900. Very good condition. Size: maximum length: 24 cm. Maximum width: 16.5 cm. Maximum height: 42 cm. Weight: 2 kg. Ref: 447 s.
