Art Nouveau oak bonnetière (circa 1920).

Here is a very pretty model of bonnetière, on the borders of more eras. Its construction, based on entirely removable parts and linked together by 4 lag screws is typical of late 19th century, very early 20th century furniture. Moreover, on the very rich body ornaments and especially on the door, we find marked traces of Art Nouveau. Nevertheless, we also have a nascent touch of Art Deco, and we find a lot of oak veneer and plywood in this bonnetière. It probably dates from the late 1910s, early 1920s. It has a real presence and rests on 4 spinning feet and opens with a large door with its original lock (key added but perfectly functional) and its beautiful gilded keyhole. The front of this door is made of plywood, fixed on the solid uprights and it has slightly split on the right (see photo). It is very discreet because the defect has been consolidated on the back by a plywood plate (see photo) which is only visible once the door is open. We notice the beauty and finesse of the hand-carved decorative elements. This bouquet of flowers suspended with its pearl trails is magical. The pediment is also one of the most beautiful parts of the piece of furniture. The central oblong cartouche is topped with a thick, hand-carved vine there too and rests on a most elegant ogee cornice. Inside, 3 original oak veneer shelves mounted on racks (therefore adjustable) as well as a 4th, in the middle, equipped with a beautiful, super practical drawer. It is also original and opens with a small gilded metal handle. Beyond the defects reported, there are usual signs of wear, some tiny veneer chips on the lower plinth in the background (almost invisible) but it has remained in its original luminous patina. Solid, stable and functional, it is in very good overall condition. H: 199 cm. W: 70 cm. D: 50 cm (at the cornice). The price is firm, thank you.
