Vintage kokeshi by murakami kenichi / 29.5 cm

Kokeshi vintage yukinko (snow child), with a refined style, dressed in a mino (traditional rice straw clothing), her name is yuki (snow). It was directed by murakami kenichi. Winner of numerous awards, Murakami-san was born in the city of Yamagata. Although his family were well-known wood craftsmen, Kenichi studied oil painting in the early 1940s, and began training and creating kokeshi sosaku in 1946. He primarily creates dolls with a minimalist decoration, emphasizing the variety of woodworking techniques. It is a little weathered by time (see photos).
