Vintage Convex Golden Mirror Artilux Butler Witch Eye 23cm

Nice small convex mirror made of gold-coloured wood, with a convex mirror glass, marked on the back artilux modele deposé, france, circa 1960s. These mirrors are also called butler mirrors or witch's eye mirrors, because of their convex mirror glass, this is an authentic example from around the mid-20th century. The convex mirror glass allowed the butler to keep an eye on the entire room, without being too conspicuous. In good vintage condition, some light signs of wear on the gold layer, the mirror glass is slightly spotted which often occurs with old mirrors, normally this mirror hung on a fabric ribbon, this has been cut and an eyelet has been provided at the back in its place, check the photos for more details!
