Description
Small rectangular box in blackened and lacquered wood, opening from above, and richly decorated with golden asian scenes. Thus, on all its visible faces, one can admire sages and other characters in traditional dress, indulging in various activities. While some are grouped around a tray of drinks and other snacks, others indulge in racket or ball games. Two young children are interested in fish in their jar, and a woman is practicing what appears to be a koto, a typically japanese stringed instrument. All evolve in the middle of a generous vegetation, and certainly oriental architectures. This box is equipped with a small lock in working order, accompanied by its key. The inside of this travel-scented box has been painted a pretty emerald green. We will appreciate the finesse of the decorations omnipresent on this storage accessory, intended to keep jewelry, cards and game pieces, or any other small treasures. ******* Period: 1900. Very good condition. Size: width: 28 cm depth: 18.5 cm height: 7.5 cm. Ref: 744 s a.
