Description
Six old us army folding field chairs 1940-1945: these 6 so-called “field” chairs were part of the military furniture of the american armies during the second world war. They are foldable and space-saving, practical and comfortable. This model of chair arrived on the old continent during the landings. Five chairs are marked: "us american seating co grand rapids, mich" (including 1 numbered: d patent i34863). One chair (slightly darker) is marked "us acme chair co". The chairs are all wood and plywood with metal reinforcements and hinges. They are functional with marks of time. They have a beautiful patina of life. These chairs have also been used on the decks of transatlantic liners, in american churches and schools. A large number of them, post-war, were used in theaters, cinemas or collective spaces in france. Overall good condition (see photos) with the exception of one of the chairs whose seat has small cracks (see photos) but which do not affect its solidity. Traces and scratches from use (see photos), sold as is. One of the chairs has been “tagged” on the back (see photo) – probably recoverable with light sanding. Dimensions: backrest: 39 X 39 cm - seat: 39.5 78 cm – folded dimensions: 82 cm X 44 cm X 5 cm.
