I am selling this sauce boat from the Saint-Amand factory, signed Lou Basquez. An authentic piece that will bring a touch of elegance and character to your table. This antique sauce boat with ears on a base (attached tray) has a very recognisable aesthetic linked to the traditions of French pottery. Origin and style: This is a piece of Basque-style tableware, characterised by its crossed graphic bands evoking the traditional design of Basque craftsmanship. This specific model with large burgundy and blue/black checks was produced by major French pottery manufacturers in the North, notably the Saint-Amand factory (model Lou Basquez). Date of manufacture: It dates from the Art Deco period, around the 1930s to 1950s. It was during this time that these geometric and colourful designs, hand-painted with stencils, became immensely popular in French households. Saucer dimensions: diameter 20cm. Sauce boat dimensions: 16 X 11cm, height 8cm.
