When Louis XIV asked his Finance Minister Jean-Baptiste Colbert to establish the Manufacture des Glaces de Saint-Gobain, it was to counter Venetian supremacy and facilitate the construction of the Galerie des Glaces at a lower cost. Our modest (but charming) trumeau, also known as the "d'entre-deux" mirror, dates only from the late nineteenth century, thanks to Empress Eugénie, who managed to revive the "Marie-Antoinette" style (of which she was a "fan"!!!). Patinated in "Trianon" grey and adorned (perhaps a paradox of a special commission) with a gilded pediment featuring the Sun King's coat of arms, a gilded garland also completes the ensemble. Placed near a sofa and a side lamp, it will create an intimate space; between two windows, it will enhance the brightness; always faithful to our commitment to the environment, we remind once again of our credo: the old is good for the planet.
