Summer jug

Languedoc summer jug in terracotta, very late 19th century (also called spouted jug). Water jug in terracotta partly glazed on the handle, the neck and the spout. The unglazed terracotta allowed transpiration of the material which lowered the temperature of the water by a few degrees. Height 28cms. Width at the top 18cms. Traces of time on the enamel with small cracks, terracotta without cracks or chips. Hand-enameled and not dipped.
