A vase made of pressed glass at the HSG Ząbkowice plant in Poland in the 1970s, representing the characteristic utilitarian modernism of the era. The glass is in a rose shade – a semi-transparent, warm pink with a subtle hint of amber, especially visible in the thickened base – combining the softness of colour with the clarity of the material. The cylindrical form, tapering downwards and ending with a wide, slightly flared rim, is built on a massive, stable base. A regular, geometric grid of raised rectangles gives the surface a distinct relief and enhances the architectural character of the object, with no additional decorations or handles – the focus is solely on the glass structure and the refinement of the form. The transitions and joints are invisible, and the whole is topped with a uniform gloss that diffuses light. The vase is unsigned. Condition is very good: no chips, cracks, or scratches; the surface is free of discolouration, original from the era. The form of this vase is a voice of Polish modernism of the 1970s – an era in which the optimism of designers was reflected even in everyday objects. The transparent, coloured glass filters light rays, showing soft reflections and geometric shadows on the table or windowsill, as if bringing a fragment of the urban landscape into the home. The regularity of the reliefs refers to the orderly yet creative architecture of the time, where practicality met the boldness of colour and structure. The restraint of the form leaves space for light and fleeting details of everyday life. The vase can be combined with glass in shades of pink, amber, or grey, creating a cohesive composition in the spirit of mid-century modern. It works well as a single accent on a minimalist surface, among ceramics and wood, as well as in the company of fabrics in a light, muted palette. It is worth combining it with modern, collector's arrangements or eclectic spaces with a distinct vintage pedigree – every fresh flower or plant will highlight the nobility and chiaroscuro of the glass form.
