Inspired by lucien boucher's work for air france, artist james thiriar (1889-1965) created this highly detailed graphic illustration of the regions of the belgian congo and its surroundings to promote travel in this region controlled by belgium. The belgian congo was a belgian colony in central africa between 1908 and 1960 in what is now known as the democratic republic of the congo. The available format is the large format of the photo.
