Hand-painted faience catchall from Vieux Rouen – 1950s

Small pocket tray or ashtray in glazed earthenware, octagonal in shape, hand-decorated in the style of the famous Rouen earthenware. Its decoration combines cobalt blue scrolls, orange flowers, green foliage, and a central floral motif in a beautiful balance of colours. The reverse bears the painted inscription "Vieux Rouen – Fait Main, " characteristic of a French artisanal production from the mid-20th century inspired by Norman tradition. Its four notches also allow it to be used as an ashtray. Dimensions: diameter 12 cm – height 2 cm.
