An exceptional set of four Grand Prix chairs, first edition, designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1957 and produced by Fritz Hansen in Denmark. Initially presented under the reference 4130, the chair was unveiled at the Milan Triennale in 1957, where its particularly sculptural shape earned it the name by which it is now known: the Grand Prix chair. Its design features an elegantly curved seat and a wing-shaped backrest, made from a single piece of molded wood. The organic silhouette is enhanced by four slender beech legs, giving it an elegant appearance and remarkable lightness. This first set is made of teak with beech legs, showcasing warm and rich tones as well as beautifully pronounced natural grain. The combination of wood types gives these pieces a particularly refined character and highlights the fluidity of Jacobsen's design lines. Each chair bears the original manufacturer's signature "MADE BY FH DENMARK, " certifying its production by Fritz Hansen. From every angle, the Grand Prix showcases Jacobsen's talent for combining functionality with sculptural aesthetics. The curved backrest, slightly raised edges of the seat, and slender silhouette give this chair an undeniable visual identity, more than half a century after its creation. These chairs retain an authentic vintage charm, with natural variations, subtle signs of use, and a patina that reflects their age. Presented as a set of four, these early pieces form a particularly remarkable and sought-after collection. A timeless example of modern Danish design and one of Arne Jacobsen's most iconic creations.
