Flat gold metal and scoubidou basket basket

Here is a set of two graceful, almost airy, flat baskets or baskets in intertwined gold metal wire with handles covered in black scoubidou, typical of the 60s and 70s. They are identical in shape and size. They are equipped with feet which allows you to place fruit on them while maintaining ventilation from below. You can also garnish them with placemats and display dried fruits or make them into pockets for smaller objects. For these objects, of course, produced in series, we still have to imagine the hand work which was necessary to fold the ends of the metal wires and carry out a large number of welding points! They are in good structural condition, still solid, the welds are intact, the scoubidou holds its place well, but do not hide their age: the metal shows lack of gilding and a little corrosion in places, the gilding is necessarily a little veiled , pitted, paler than 50 or 60 years ago. But overall, they look better in reality than in the photos taken very closely. These baskets measure 33 cm in length from one handle to the other, 23 cm in width, 5 cm in height at the rim and 9 cm in height at the handles.
