Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 30 cm X 40 cm. Signed bottom right: raphael dekoker 1944. The neerpedebeek in pede saint anne belgium. Raphael dekoker. Located west of brussels in pajottenland, the typical village of the flemish brabant province of pede-sainte-anne, in dutch sint-anna-pede is an area of itterbeek, which is itself one of the villages of the commune of dilbeek. It takes its name from the neerpedebeek, a tributary of the senne river, which runs through the village. The small church of sainte-anne de pede-sainte-anne, which is already mentioned in 1259, is famous throughout the world because it is in the background of the "parable of the blind", painted in 1568 by pierre breugel "the elder" and now on display at the capodimonte museum in naples2. It has undergone transformations since then, but the whole remains faithful to the representation visible on the painting. At the louvre museum in paris is a copy executed by pierre breugel "the younger". In 1770, on the ferraris map, the hamlet is under the name of st. Anna pede.
