After studying architecture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, the young designer opened his own studio in the Danish capital. He collaborated with furniture manufacturers in Germany, Sweden, Japan, the United States, and Great Britain, and exhibited throughout Europe and the United States. The creative spirit of Ib Kofod Larsen gave rise to some of the most innovative creations in modern Danish design. Among his most well-known works are the Elizabeth chair (1956) and the Seal chair (1955). His sculptural designs are among the most sought after by collectors and galleries worldwide. The Djursholm armchair presented here dates from 1966. Only a few copies of this model were produced, making it particularly rare.
