A two-seater sofa with clean, bold lines, designed by Paolo Piva in 1950 and produced by the Swiss brand De Sede in the 1990s. The sofa is made of black leather with removable side cushions and a backrest and base made of black lacquered aluminum tubing. The brand's logo is visible on the base fabric. The sofa is characterized by its flat, floating surface that surrounds the upper profile and one of the sides of the piece. Paolo Piva trained at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice. Throughout his career, he has gained international recognition for his work with major Italian furniture companies such as B&B Italia, Giovannetti, Dada, and Poliform. Based in Klingnau, in northern Switzerland, near the German border, De Sede has been manufacturing high-end furniture since the 1960s, when it began collaborating with international designers to create high-end, handcrafted leather chairs, lounges, and sofas. Over the years, De Sede's product offering has expanded to include tables, beds, and other furniture.
